U really looked like you knew what you were doing. So cool, I've never caught a fish. Bet your arms were tired. Good sized fish, did you throw it back or eat it? Glad to have you back posting again. We went up the Gondola ride at Whistler which zooms you between 2 very high mountains. THe freakiest one was one that you had to hike to after getting off gondola. It was just a chair with a bar across and it went straight up! We went over ice fields and giant rock cliffs, Grandpa didn't like it, but I loved it.
Grandpa Jerry is impressed. I used to love fishing. When the fish first strikes your fishing lure, it really pulls hard, doesn't it! It looks like a Brook Trout. Glad you put it back in the water, so it can go back down to Bikini Bottom and have a Crabby Patty with Spongebob and Patrick.
Great fish! I remember my first one. It was a Blue Gill (a pan fish that is blue with a little gold on the belly). I was using a bobber off of the dock. I was so excited, that it swallowed the hook.
Dude! You're a writer! I am a sixth grade teacher, so I know. When you go back to school this year, be sure and tell your teacher you have a writing gig! Awesome fish!
Holy Fish Canoli! That's awesome :) I have a whole pond full of carp & trout and we can't catch a single one...so, if you're ever in France (where some crazy Norwegian-Americans bought a place--that's us!) & want to do some fishin'...come on over!! Keep up the good work and you'll never starve....by the way, how'd it taste?
Dear Dakoda, Please don't read your uncle's bad blog name. You are only 10 after all! And GREAT job landing that fish. My daughter is 9 and she loves to fish too.
Congratulations! Your uncle mentioned you caught your first fish. Very cool!
I live in Utah with my three sons, Parke [11], Duke [9] and Redmond [3] and they LOVE to fish. They've never caught one like you did though. I'll have to show them your exciting post!
Impressive Fish Dakoda! I can't wait until I take my son fishing so he can catch his first fish too. He is only 2 years old so it will be a couple of years from now. I hope it's as big as yours.
Fabulous fish, young man! I hope you got to eat it too.
And good on ya for wearing your life jacket; I work with the beach patrol and surf rescue here and we see WAY too many people who get in trouble around water because they won't put one on.
I caught a marlin once. It was in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Australia. You had to be strapped to the boat cos the marlins are real fighters, and they're big. This sounds like one of those made-up fishing stories doesn't it? Aren't all fishing stories made up?
What a great job you did on the fish! I don't like fishing, but maybe one day I will try it out. I don't think I could do as good a job as you did though!
Wow, 73 hits, guess mine makes 74. Bet you've had more hits on your blog than any other kid your age. Write more, love to check it out. PS You can teach me how to fish! Nana
You ROCK, kid. That's one more fish than I ever caught (because no one ever took me fishing. I'm going to go cry now.... ) You play the bass too?? What, are you trying to get every single girl in elementary school? Is that really fair, Dakoda?
Great photos. Reminded me of the one and only time my father and mother and brother and I went fishing together. I tried to cast from the boat and threw my rod and reel into the lake. My father was not happy. So for you to have such a good experience really makes me smile.

Just make sure you're having fun. That's the best part.
Dude.. spelled your name wrong. Sorry, Dakoda.

My son wants to start a blog too. He is at camp this weekend. When he comes back on Wednesday, I will help him set one up. Then, he can follow you.
He also likes to play music. He plays the guitar and the saxophone. Plus, he is a fast swimmer.
Have a good week. We will be back later to say hello again and to follow.
Great blog, Dakoda . . . and great fish! I especially mean the little guys swimming up on the right. How'd you do that???
Excellent fish! Good goin'! You'll be ready for a shark tournament in no time!!

My 6-year-old son wants to know what you used for bait. He uses hotdogs in the pond behind our house. We catch some cool things, but nothing that big.
Congratulations!

I stopped by from your uncle's blog to say hello. You've got one strange (but cool) uncle.

Very nice! My daughter would be jealous. What kind of fish is it?
You're like the little Old Man and the Sea, like Ernest Hemmingway!
Did you keep it? Did you eat it? Or did you throw it back? (oops - I just read someone else's comment and it looks like you threw it back)
Congratulations on a great catch! Woo hoo!
